Sen. Barack Obama will return to Ohio today with his wife for the first time since the Illinois Democrat clinched the nomination as his party’s presidential candidate.
Michelle Obama also will be the featured guest during a campaign fundraising party in Cincinnati.
The downtown fundraiser is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Westin hotel. Tickets are $500 for admission or $2,300 for a VIP reception. The party is hosted by Democratic fundraisers Jenny and Allan Berliant, according to state Sen. Eric Kearney, D-North Avondale.
The Obamas also plan a private midday meeting with senior citizens at Oakleaf Village of Columbus. Gov. Ted Strickland, who initially endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton before throwing his support to Obama last week, will be at the meeting.
The Ohio visit is part of Obama’s two-week “Change that Works for You” tour of the country. continue Cincinnati.com and Ohio Politics.

Wow. I am from Cincinnati and I didn’t know there were any Democrats in the city, especially any who would vote for Obama. But I have been away a long time. Strickland’s endorsement is a little like Ed Rendell’s endorsement. Both are gritting their teeth, I think.

Obama clinched Cincinnati, He took all but 1 of the precincts in Hamilton County. Cincinnati are more Obama supporters than Clinton.
Clinton took the most rural areas in the connecting counties and city.
Cincinnati is ready for the needed change.
