Deathrow Inmate Waives Appeals Partly for Religious Beliefs

In 1996, David Mark Hill lost custody of his children. In retaliation he walked into the Department of Social Services, opened fired and shot to death his case manager along with two other employees. The next day Hill was found lying across a set of railroad tracks with a self inflicted gun shot wound through the roof of his mouth that had exited his head.

The death row inmate had a father who was not well and felt that if he hadn’t pushed forward with the appeals process, ‘that it could have possibly sent the ailing man straight over the edge’. Although, deciding to now uphold the courts decision and ruling has more to do with Hill’s faith.

“Part of my religious beliefs are that if you kill somebody, you shed somebody else’s blood, that your blood has to be shed or you have to die in order to be forgiven for that,” Hill told a lower court judge, according to the Supreme Court ruling.

Interesting – on the ride to Social Services and moments before he let loose a few rounds – Hill was noted as saying “I’m tired of these people playing ‘God’ with my children.”

Let the record state, David Mark Hill has been determined to be of a sound mind. He speaks intelligently and communicates his reasoning and rationale regarding all aspects of the case to the point where his wishes for execution shall be granted. However a date hasn’t been set at this time.

When Patriotism was Pure in Heart

Vodpod videos no longer available.
I found this over at Liberal Progressive Watch, when being Patriotic lived in your heart and was displayed through actions such as this. This is not how it is today. And the actions of Rick Monday of The Chicago Clubs is a prime example of what I am speaking.

Today it’s mostly based on fluff – ‘who wears the flag lapel pin’? The argument is so heated I guess if I wore ten at the same time would this render me 10x’s more patriotic than the next man?

Monday’s display of patriotism was so pure in heart – untainted – it was the way he lived and breathed it. He showed it ‘simplistically in its true meaning’. In one clean swoop he took hold of the American flag, his actions said you won’t do this. The intent of the demonstrator was to make a statement, but I liked the statement of Monday’s even better.

It said “I can be patriotic without hurting or injuring you I can show defense of my flag without violence.”

That’s not how it is today either.

Senator Obama is cursed out like a monkey on a tree. I personally don’t know how some of these people wake everyday and want to begin it with such hate – anyways. When the credits begin to roll how many of these folks do you think are wearing a red white and blue flag pin? And exactly what are they doing on a daily for the embetterment of our country and the citizens that live in it.

If you’re gonna preach patriotism and decide who has the lack of – you ought to be living it in full meaning.

Writing hate – spewing hate – nor sending out verbal calls of action to evoke harm to someone – sorry doesn’t make you a patriot – it makes you ignorant – truly operating from the lack of knowledge – called patriotism.

Frederick Douglas on Patriotism: “a True Patriot is a lover of his country, who rebukes and does not excuse its sins”.  {one of my favorite quotes on patriotism}

It’s Official Religion Has Driven The Mayor of Alabama Crazy

(mayor on far left)

I’d say it’s official that the Mayor of Alabama has lost his mind and he needs to retrace his steps in hopes of finding it.

Mayor Larry Langford of Alabama held a ‘Sack cloth and Ashes’ prayer and vigil in response to his city’s high homicide rate. His words, “This city needs to humble itself.” Mayor Langford is a professing Christian, that is leading his citizens the exact way the people in the book of Jonah were led. And, that was for the residents of the ancient city of Ninevah to wear rough fabric and ashes as a sign of turning away from sin.

First, the Mayor is in violation of separation of church and state.

Second and real important, this man is treading on some very dangerous waters. So, he’s a professing Christian? Did he speak in a universal language of religion for everyone in his city – I doubt it & I’d bet my last dime.

There’s arguments between the Baptists and the Methodists or should I say a disparaging belief system. Then the differences between the Catholics and the nondenominational and/or what about the Jehovah Witness? I could keep going, but you see where I’m headed with this right?

When the prayer rally is over and the crime rate has shot up even higher, it could be and do you know why?

Because he prayed the prayers of a Christian Baptist man not a Jewish or Catholic one. The Mayor prayed wrong, he wasn’t in the right closet. He even had his flock praying wrong, which brought on curses from The Masterful obviously unforgiving God. (You know it’s the truth).

I’m just curious?? Is it still wrong and a reason for God to send you to Hell if you’re a Methodist and you sit in a visiting Baptist Church and take communion? No disrespect intended. I was cursed from the lips of a Pastor because I had the audacity to do this. Told if I ever did it again, they’d have to ask me to leave the church. And, this was a nondenominational pastor and so was the church that we were visiting. Yet, he could not lead us and save us appropriately with the drinking of that symbolic grape drink (blood) and wafer cracker. His prayers may not have been clean like a righteous man – my participation could have brought on destruction to the world and sin for me.

So I hope the Mayor is very careful! One thousand followers/prayers/citizens was in attendance. He had purchased 2,000 sack cloths. He told his people in a wonderful spirit of unity, that if they were too cute to put a sack cloth on – stay home. And if they were too cute to adorn themselves symbolically with ashes – stay home. He’s such a wonderful Christian, who by the way sits on the board part time at Birmingham Budweiser Distributing Co. as “director public relations.”

Maybe when the repentance rally was over he invited the 1,000 to come have a beer on him – food for thought?

Your Signature is More Powerful Than What You Think

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I found this over at Gay Persons of Color.

Signature from 2007 won a Gold Lions Prize in Cannes and illustrates how signing petitions can provide real help to victims of torture, abuse, arbitrary imprisonment, and other human rights violations. Your signature can literally save lives.

While viewing the video I could feel the many lives that my signature had saved. The endless amount of times that I have penned my john hancock to a petition (alot!) And, if you’ve ever signed a petition say to stop an execution or even calling a cease fire to the Iraq War as you’re viewing this – you’ll understand exactly what I am speaking of.

I plainly see why this took home prizes and awards. Powerful but simple it was awesome and beautiful! Take a look, please.

Visit Amnesty International and sign a (or few) petitions today!

He says, Jesus was the son of Mary and a Roman soldier who raped Her

Whoa!  When I heard this I had to stop and take a deep breath.

Paul Verhoeven the director of ‘Basic Instinct’ believes and has considered this for the past two decades. I’m not surprised that he holds this as a possible truth.  I’m shocked that not only does he have the balls – {not courage} – to vocalize it, but soon will release a book.

“Jesus of Nazareth:  A Realistic Portrait” is due to hit the shelves this fall.  An Amsterdam publishing house is prepared to take the risk.  No matter how badly this autobiograhy of Jesus is hated, watch how everyone will flock to their local bookstores to make a purchase the day it’s released.   I see a New York Times Best Seller in the making.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the purity of Jesus’ birth has been challenged or, that Jesus’ father was really a rapist.

Kirk Bingaman, director of the pastoral counseling program at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion, said the idea that Mary was raped and that the rapist was Jesus’ father is not new.

“The idea goes back to ancient sources from the 1st or 2nd century; I personally don’t put a lot of stock in it. How would we ever know? We don’t have any empirical proof. I subscribe to the Apostles’ Creed that Jesus was conceived of the Virgin Mary,” he said.

Regardless as to whether or not ? – this is his truth as he has come to know it.

He’s a man of the Catholic faith that holds a doctorate in mathematics and physics from the University of Leiden. Verhoeven was a regular attendee of the Jesus Seminar which was co-founded by the late religion scholar Robert W. Funk.

My only hope is that seeing as this will be considered a blasphemy against the religious & christians most high – “Don’t kill Verhoeven or burn his house down, possibly injuring those who are only innocent bystanders”.

Let him believe in his intrepretation and meaning – Can you as a Christian handle the challenge(s) of your beliefs?

The Red Rose Award was gifted to Me

Sojourner’s Place I say thank you & I salute you!

A myspace friend had told me early in the morning, that it was going to be a knock out of a day for me.  She’s always inspiring & never judging – uplifting.  I love these kind of people – sweet – down to earth.

Then we have the ones that you have to shift through a lot of numbers for – until you find the pearl in the oyster – looking reaching extending – at last a connection.  Sojourner’s Place is a pearl in the oyster, she’s a very supportive, give from the heart, lend a hand up and reaches back, don’t wanna leave anybody standing to long in the same place. So, thanks for reaching out & back to me!

The rules of tradition is to pass the Red Rose Award to sisters of your picking and honor them, as such. So, I’m choosing to honor with giggles and smiles the inspiring, The Soul of a Survivor and she ain’t never lied. And I cannot forget Jasmyne Cannick ‘say what she mean and mean what she say’ – and it may not always be popular.

So, I salute you my chosen Red Rose Award winners – May today be the greatest day you’ve ever had – a knock out!
