McCain says, “I Really Didn’t Love America!” (VIDEO)

This is a “make my day” comment from MSNBC.

I Really Didn’t Love America….
Can you hear it….Now pass this along the way!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

found this – Dan Abrams Verdict – 13 minutes in length, panel discussion on John McCain’s statement dating back to 1999.

“Republicans have hammered Michelle Obama for her remarks in February that she was proud of America “for the first time in my adult life.” Tonight, however, Dan Abrams showed footage he uncovered of a Fox News interview with John McCain on March 13, 2008, in which McCain said, “I didn’t really love America until I was deprived of her company.”

Abrams thinks McCain’s comments could undermine the “right wing’s steady attacks against Michelle Obama.” click me – McCain I Didn’t Love America Until Held Prisoner.

No Atheists In Foxholes

Someone just dropped this off by my house for me to read.

Editorial Reviews

Experience gripping wartime stories and honest prayers by this Camp David chaplain now serving in Iraq. When words mean less and less, but money talks more and more; when blasphemy is a best seller, and eternal war has replaced hopeful diplomacy; in times like these is prayer even possible? Patrick J. McLaughlin thinks so. McLaughlin is an active duty Navy Chaplain who has ministered to heads of state and to soldiers living and dying in the heat of Iraq.

No Atheists in Foxholes assembles Chaplain McLaughlin’s experiences and prayers from e-mails, private notes, and personal conversations that take us real-time into realms of duty and spirit: from the quiet darkness of his infant son’s New England bedroom on September 11, 2001, to the bomshelled medical tents and blistered Army Humvees of Anbar Province. Chaplain McLaughlin believes that prayer is not only possible, but critical. “We must all learn to pray for peace,” he says, “and then become an answer to that prayer.”

I’ve only scanned the book and focused on a few small parts.  However, my friend found it – a bit disdaining based on the lack of respect given to the Atheists who have fought for our country.  Little attention was given to the Atheist who went in the foxhole as an Atheist and came out the same – an atheist.  Meaning everyone in a time of crisis or fear does not turn to a God.

Like I said I’ve not read the book I’ve only had it in my possession a few minutes, but hopefully it will prove itself a good read.

Atheism as a cover for racism

I found this over at euraktiva’s blog.

The question proposed — Is this a part of a growing phenomenon — Religion being used a subtle code for race?

Furman University students and professors say, Please don’t deliver the commencement speech President Bush

I was born with a silver foot

The President who was born with a silver spoon foot in his mouth….don’t you just love that one liner – Ah come on !

Both students and professors oppose George W. Bush attending and delivering the commencement speech. They have been signing petitions and plan to wear armbands in protest. Some of the students have even declared they will not show up for their own graduation and the professors which are in protest are not attending as “Conscientious Objectors.”

The students never extended the offer nor gave the invite to the president this was initiated by the South Carolina republican Governor.

They said students weren’t a part of this – click here for audio – sounds like they’re apart of it to me.

The professors are ashame of the president’s policies-the war-etc. & are appalled that Bush will be speaking – NPR audio.

Roland Martin Make wearing a flag pin the 28th Amendment

“I’ve watched this debate reach the levels of absurdity this year because journalists and commentators have raised the question to Sen. Barack Obama, “Why don’t you wear a flag lapel pin?”

“I really got a kick out of that one during the ABC debate last month because not one person on stage — Sens. Hillary Clinton and Obama, along with moderators Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos — bothered to accessorize their attire with a flag lapel pin.”

“Sen. John McCain has been traveling the globe as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and this former Navy pilot often doesn’t wear a flag lapel pin.”

Roland comments, “Shouldn’t we insist that our politicians all begin to sport red, white and blue socks in order to feel good knowing that they are walking as Americans?”

Mr. Martin that truly is a laugh out loud, but I’m sorry I’ve got first dibs on what the 28th Amendment should be and that is a ban on any further discussion of religion in politics as it pertains to public forums debates campaigns etc.

When Patriotism was Pure in Heart

Vodpod videos no longer available.
I found this over at Liberal Progressive Watch, when being Patriotic lived in your heart and was displayed through actions such as this. This is not how it is today. And the actions of Rick Monday of The Chicago Clubs is a prime example of what I am speaking.

Today it’s mostly based on fluff – ‘who wears the flag lapel pin’? The argument is so heated I guess if I wore ten at the same time would this render me 10x’s more patriotic than the next man?

Monday’s display of patriotism was so pure in heart – untainted – it was the way he lived and breathed it. He showed it ‘simplistically in its true meaning’. In one clean swoop he took hold of the American flag, his actions said you won’t do this. The intent of the demonstrator was to make a statement, but I liked the statement of Monday’s even better.

It said “I can be patriotic without hurting or injuring you I can show defense of my flag without violence.”

That’s not how it is today either.

Senator Obama is cursed out like a monkey on a tree. I personally don’t know how some of these people wake everyday and want to begin it with such hate – anyways. When the credits begin to roll how many of these folks do you think are wearing a red white and blue flag pin? And exactly what are they doing on a daily for the embetterment of our country and the citizens that live in it.

If you’re gonna preach patriotism and decide who has the lack of – you ought to be living it in full meaning.

Writing hate – spewing hate – nor sending out verbal calls of action to evoke harm to someone – sorry doesn’t make you a patriot – it makes you ignorant – truly operating from the lack of knowledge – called patriotism.

Frederick Douglas on Patriotism: “a True Patriot is a lover of his country, who rebukes and does not excuse its sins”.  {one of my favorite quotes on patriotism}
