Zoo Lion Kills Man Who Invokes Gods

Give Me That Old Time Religion, Give Me That Old Time Religion, Give Me That Old Time Religion, Cause It’s Good Enough For Me!

A MAN shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal’s enclosure, a zoo official said on today.

“A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery.”

The incident, yesterday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an “animal island” protected by thick concrete blocks. (The Australian).

A Problem With Daniel
by Peter Murphy

The Book of Daniel is regarded as prophetic among Christian circles because of its implied references to the messiah. In the Christian Old Testament it is placed following Ezekiel in order to make Daniel look like one of the great prophets of old. On the other hand in the Tanakh (Jewish Bible) the Book of Daniel is placed among the least inspired books and there is no Daniel listed as a Major or Minor Prophet.

Irrespective of this difference the problems with the Book of Daniel historically are legion. This essay will address merely one moral problem. The question of just how loyal was this Daniel to YHWH. It is important to start at the beginning.

In chapter 1 Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon selected Daniel, to be trained in Babylonian literature and language. In chapter 2, during the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Daniel interprets a dream of the king and is made as a reward the ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over the wise men. Daniel, recognizing the need for assistants, appoints Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego to deal with the administration of the province, while Daniel remained at Nebuchadnezzar’s court. This last item is very important to the point of this essay.

In chapter 3 Nebuchadnezzar raises a gold statue of approximately 90 feet in his own honor and decreed that all his subjects worship it. Nebuchadnezzar also decreed that any who would not worship his statue were to be thrown into a furnace. It must be conceded that Daniel, who was at Nebuchadnezzar’s court, knew about this statue and decree.

Chapter 3 tells us what happened next. In verses 7-12 we are told that certain men disobeyed the decree and charges were brought against them. According to the text they were the only ones who disobeyed the decree. The three accused were the men Daniel had appointed to deal with the administration of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. These three men are arrested and brought before Nebuchadnezzar, who threw them into his furnace. Anyway, to make a long story short an angel shows up to keep the men company and they are rescued and the king admits their god is the real god.

What is missing is where was Daniel while this was going on? According to chapter 2 Daniel was at Nebuchadnezzar’s court, as such he would have been one of those who bowed down to the golden image — if not, then why was he not accused along with his deputies! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego are the ones who put their lives on the line for their beliefs; Daniel is nowhere to be seen. If he was at court, as chapter 2 maintains, then he must have bowed and worshipped the image because he did not get in trouble. And if he was an idol worshipper, as he must be, then what kind of prophet was he!

Once again the Christian belief in Daniel being a real person and a prophet falls apart just by a simple critical reading of this furnace affair.

What Should You Do If You Find an Atheist

Is this really what Christians want to teach their children?

I’m just asking, because I find this not only scary but disturbing, it doesn’t make a lick of sense to me.

OBJECTIVE Ministries (what a name, huh) targets young children.

Their goal and their mission, from the looks of it is too terrorize preschool children.
However this is how it reads:

Welcome to OBJECTIVE: Ministries! We offer a range of Christian educational and activist campaigns — or OBJECTIVES as we like to call them. A list of our OBJECTIVES can be found to the left. U.S. Marine removed from duty for passing out Bible Coins

U.S. Military regulations prohibit religious proselytizing.

The United States soldier has been placed on suspension until further investigations. The marine was passing out coins with Bible scriptures on both sides: ‘Where will you spend eternity” and “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Reported earlier – many of the citizens were scared to refuse his Bible Coin. I can imagine they were afraid to turn his offer down and for many reasons, which should be apparent. American Christians aren’t kind to their own who do not buy into Christianity or organized religion. And, more importantly than – the refusal of accepting their Lord and Saviour – God Jesus the Holy Spirit. In a war torn land with tankers and a host of weapons – uhmm…I can see where some might hesitate.

“Regulations prohibit members of the coalition force from proselytizing any religion, faith or practices,” said Col. Bill Buckner, a coalition spokesman. “Our troops are trained on those guidelines before they deploy.”

A military statement said “appropriate action” will be taken if the reports are substantiated.

The reports stoked religious concerns in Iraq just weeks after Iraqi police discovered that a U.S. soldier had used the Quran, Islam’s holy book, for target practice.

Well, I hope the soldier doesn’t receive a dishonorable discharge or is permanently let go for breaking regulation.  Our U.S. soldiers must remember though they’re foreign occupiers not Christian Missionaries.

Don’t worry it’s just a ‘PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS – GOT ANY?’

US Marines are forcing Christianity onto the Iraqis

Sad to say, but this is a part of having America come into your home…. they are going to tell you that Christianity is right and your religion and faith is all wrong, but the real plight is about your conversion.

Our, U.S. Marines are handing out this coin, imprinted with a Gospel verse, to Fallujah residents.

Anad said, a Marine slipped a coin out of his pocket and put it in his hand.

Out of fear, he accepted it, Anad said. When he was inside the city, the college student said, he looked at one side of the coin. “Where will you spend eternity?” it asked.

He flipped it over, and on the other side it read, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16.”

You can read the full article at McClatchy Washington Bureau.

Here’s a comment that one of the readers left in regards to the “shiny fake coin”.

Hi there! We’ve bombed your country, crippled your infrastructure, killed thousands of your citizens, and pretty much ruined any chance for you or your remaining loved ones to have any semblance of a normal life in your homeland. But we’re hoping this shiny fake coin that says you’re going to hell unless you accept Jesus as Lord will somehow comfort you.

Handful of Well-Intentioned but not-so-bright US Marines

The Arab Messiah a Film about Jesus

Mohammad Aziziah, an Egyptian film maker is producing a film titled “The Arab Messiah.” The film will reflect the Quranic view instead of the Christian view.

“I intend to show the glory of Christ in Islam, the fact that Islam recognises all the prophets and the fact that Christ has a big place and enjoys much respect among Muslims,” said Aziziah.

“Christians believe that Christ was crucified and died, rising on the third day and then appearing to his Apostles, before ascending to Heaven after 40 days,” he added.

(Whereas, this is not their belief – According to the Quran, Jesus was not crucified, but rather he was raised alive to Heaven.)

“Instead of showing the things Islam and Christianity agree on, the director focuses on core differences, which could result in resentment among religious people in the Middle East,” added the cleric.”

Senator John McCain Rejects Pastor John Hagee’s Endorsement

John McCain said:

“Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible,” Mr. McCain said in a statement Thursday. “I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee’s endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well.”

It’s only fair, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Although, I am a bit surprised seeing as Jews aren’t necessarily perceived as Americans. Not the kind of America that usually set people off like in the case when Pastor Jeremiah Wright spoke so fiercely about. The Jewish persuasion is also viewed as a group of people that fit into the ‘one drop rule’ – tainted ‘you’re not all white’.

And, in America anything or anyone that isn’t considered ‘pure white’… well, let’s just say, “You can be whipped, beaten & spoken against, ” but eventually we’ll get around to defending you – the human rights – of you.

I hope this is truly the beginning of Pastor Hagee’s downfall (or at least the dissecting under a microscope). Under the microscope of what his teachings are about – Hate – Hate – Hate – and more Hate!

His Sunday morning teachings (and midweek) would make a sound minded person question ‘Who is Your God?’ And, if that is who s/he really is — then I choose not.
